GP Professional Development
Local professional development activities for GPs are conducted in the regional centre of Murray Bridge. A needs analysis determines the topics, which are presented in the course of a Triennium together with topics from the National Health Priority Areas (cancer control, mental health, injury prevention & control, cardiovascular health, diabetes, asthma & arthritis/musculoskeletal). RACGP CPD and ACRRM PDP points are applied for all activities. Generally, visiting specialists are invited to provide current best practice guidance and updates.
Procedural upskilling is also arranged on request.
All doctors, locums, GP Registrars, interns and medical students are invited to professional development activities. Allied health or nursing staff may be invited where the topic lends itself to a multidisciplinary approach.
Doctors can elect which professional body they wish to belong to for maintenance of their professional development points, namely RACGP and ACRRM.
A regular update of professional development opportunities, “CPD Chat”, is circulated to all members electronically.

Practice Managers Network
The Network offers professional development and peer support activities for practice managers who were previously working in isolation. Bi-monthly meetings are co-ordinated and facilitated by the Network for practice managers to discuss topics covering a wide range of business development and changes as required within the health system.
This entails support to education and training, support in maintaining links with other key stakeholders in the health industry and resources across all practices. This enables a great networking opportunity to share information, raise concerns and build on solution based ideas for on going business development and practice sustainability.
